More and more, male waxing is an intriguing option for men's hair removal but has received a stigma because of certain movie scenes over the years. However, more and more men are discovering the benefits of smooth, hair-free skin by choosing regular waxing as part of their beauty regime.
This makes sense because, as stated on my Waxing 101 page, waxing is more hygienic, longer lasting, and more cost-effective than shaving. When men switch from shaving to waxing, they love avoiding the inevitable itchy scruff that grows in after a few days. And as women state, most male clients report that they can’t imagine going back to shaving after receiving their first Manzilian. However, even though you may know the benefits of waxing, you may still not be sure if it is right for you, and you may have a lot of questions about it. Read on for some common questions.
Aren't Brazilian waxes only for women?
In the past, women were the only ones who got to benefit from Brazilian waxing, but it is a whole new world now! It is now common for men to want to get waxed down there. We often see bodybuilders and other athletes come in, men who want to be more sanitary, or men who simply like the aesthetic of the waxed look. It’s not a “female thing;” it’s a hygiene thing!
Most men do some type of manscaping to achieve the desired result of men's hair removal. Shaving is an option due to it being inexpensive so it will always have a place in men's hair removal. However, it also has its own drawbacks - razor burn, cuts due to the razor, as well as bites and nicks by an electric razor. Shaving also inflames the skin often leaving a red and swollen appearance. In addition, stubble appears much sooner because shaving only removes the longer hair at the skin's surface, not at the root like waxing does. Male waxing has gained popularity over the past few years and is a viable option for men's hair removal due to its longer-term results and convenience.
For the same reasons women choose to wax their intimate areas, many men do the same. It feels sexier and smoother, is much kinder to skin and more hygienic than shaving, and the results last much longer! Where are the negatives?
Isn't it embarrassing?
First of all, you should know that I do not judge any body. I have years of experience and have seen it all, so you have no need to feel self-conscious. I am just trying to give you the best wax possible.
Is it safe to wax down there?
There is a misconception out there that it isn’t safe to wax male genitals, but this isn’t true. Many waxing locations do not offer this service, but it is mostly because up until recently, there wasn’t much demand for male Brazilian waxes - which is completely safe for men.
What if I get "excited" during the appointment?
Don't worry - this is actually a very common and normal reaction to getting waxed; it happens about 50 percent of the time. There is no need to stress, It is nothing I haven't seen before - I will always remain professional and will not acknowledge it; I'm too busy trying to give you the most even and smoothest wax possible. I ask you to remain professional. Make any inappropriate comments or noises, the service will end immediately and good luck getting that wax off.
Will it be painful?
Well, removing your hair from the follicle is never going to be exactly comfortable. Also keep in mind that the first wax is the most painful; after two or three sessions, my clients generally report that they feel less discomfort.
